Musical Musings Jan 15th

This year, we'll be using three part prompts. Where you take these prompts is entirely up to you. They are only ideas to help you get the creative juices flowing You can take all of them, or pick the parts you like out and use only those. You can even choose to take the vegue idea and come up with something totally new! When you share your projects, please let us know what direction your mind took you. Sometimes the differences are hard to spot, unless we have a little help! Are you READY!?!

THE PROMPT: Starting NOW
THE SONG: Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer (the player is to your right in the sidebar if you'd like to take a listen.)
Written Lyrics HERE.
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE: Foot Photo
At the beginning of every year, I choose a word that I want to try to apply to my life. It's a concept that floats around the internet every year... Ali Edwards calls it One Little Word I think... I can't remember where I first heard the idea, but I love it, and I've been doing it for several years now. My word this year is PRESENT. Here is the journaling I wrote about my word on the back of my playing card.
I am not waiting on the world this year. I'm changing on my own. I'm living in the present, and BEING present in my life. I used the mother and child standing together and their unmoving feet to symbolize that in my photo. Feet in a photo might also symbolize taking the first step... or something totally different. I can't wait to see what you create!!

  1. I just uploaded mine but the journaling is not so clear so I will recap..It talks about how a friend of mine said to me "you must think you have to be perfect all the time..Fuck That" and I thought hard about it and also about the midlife crisis I am smack in the middle of and decided that he is right...I do think that. I am not waiting for the world to change..I am going to change and be embrace my IMPERFECTION. I used that picture because the hem is held up with safety pins and the pants are too short. Perfect example of imperfection! Hope that helps explain it!

  2. This, to me, means learning to love myself as I am, and learning to live with NOW as opposed to living in the past or the future. Once I "Embrace the Demons" and learn to live in the "here and now", I will be able to fully live my life! It's just a bit of a shame it has taken me so long to get to this point!!

  5. My word for 2011 is "change" and this is my tribute to it: http://artyventure.wordpress.com/2011/01/16/journal-page-winds-of-change/. I only started journaling 2 weeks ago as an extension of my rubber stamping hobby. My first page was a New Year's resolution and I'm already working hard to try to achieve the goals I set for myself. Thanks for the prompt!

  15. NOW is my One Little Word this year because NOW is my time. After being in the Air Force for 12 years I got out to homeschool our daughters. After 18 years I have now finished that part of my life journey. NOW it is my time to pick up my art and create to my heart's desire. I am enjoying every second of it!
Here is my take on the prompt.
