THE PROMPT: I'm Beautiful
THE SONG: Real Love by Regina Spektor
Written Lyrics HERE
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE: Self-portrait
To me, February is a good month to think uplifting thoughts. The shortest month of the year can often seem the longest (really, is winter ever going to end?)...and that's why I wanted to create a prompt that hopefully stirs some warm fuzzy feelings. You ARE beautiful! Don't forget it! And I know it's not a religious song, but it really makes me think of God's love. REAL love. And I know that even at my most ugly, God still finds me beautiful. You don't have to take the prompt this way, of course, but those were my happy thoughts while I designed my page. Can't wait to see what you create!

MARIT
Hmm... I've never heard of Regina Spektor and didn't know the song, but I went with the lines "thought I'd been in love before, but in my heart I wanted more, seems all I really was doing was waiting for you."
I used glimmermist to spray the 'anonymous' men in the background - they stand for the men I "thought I'd been in love" with (there were more then the four I sprayed here... *teehee*) I transferred a photo of my beloved onto the page. The photo of me is edited in Photoshop. I wrote the text with a marker and a white sharpie. The dimension line is made with a pearl pen (sort of 'puffy paint').
GLENDA
I loved this prompt and I love that it had a self portrait as part of it because I had this picture of myself where I was standing on a ledge that overlooked a mountain in Banff. Because I can be such a worry wart and someone who is afraid to take risks this picture makes me smile. It confirms that I can be a little daring still and that I don't need to be afraid of everything. It's good to push yourself outside of your comfort level and this is what my journal page is all about.
BECKY
i've really enjoyed learning how to work in my art journal. I am sure I have a lot of improvement to do but it is fun to be free and just let the art flow. I really enjoyed this prompt and actually using a picture of myself to go in the journal.
LARA
I've never done a self portrait before as i always thought of them as needing to look like, well, a person and i can't really draw. So i used color, and abstract figure shapes. and bleach thanks to the last prompt :)
