Musical Musings April 30th
This prompt comes to you from Margrethe!!
The Prompt: Busy!
The song: Manic Monday by the Bangles
Written Lyrics HERE
Product/technique: Lace/trim
I started a new (and first ever "proper") job back in January and life suddenly got busy! I'm currently teaching Norwegian and English at a high school and have just been employed for the next school year as well (teaching the same subjects social science). I'm honored to have them hire me before I'm legally a "teacher", and ever so grateful.
And... I'm still in grad school, trying to juggle empirical research with work and being an editor for a newly founded academic journal.
All of this means I haven't scrapbooked properly in months, the total amount of layouts being 11 so far this year... :(
Life got busy, but I love it!
And from the other gals...
Glenda:
Oh I loved this prompt because it really hit home with me. I work all day in a cubicle in a chair I like to call the "soul crusher". Yeah. I also had a picture of me in my little cubicle just ripe for this challenge. I used some 7 Gypsies gaffer tape as my trim as well as used the title of the song for my page. Don't get me wrong, in today's world I am blessed to have my job but if I were to go back in time I would have picked a different profession, one that I would have enjoyed that didn't crush my soul, maybe something artsy or helping people?

Love, love, LOVE this song! I've been super busy the past few months since going on "full-time" (read, OVERtime) status at work, and I really feel like nothing at home ever gets done. For example, right now I'm out of socks and underwear, and will have to run to the store to buy new since I don't have time to do laundry before work! lol I used a few lyrics from the song, looped some cord around the edge for my trim, and thought this cute image of a child hard at work in the garden was just perfect. Right now, I really feel like my work is never done!
PS~ I used THIS TECHNIQUE by Tim Holtz for my wrinkled background!
Marit
My beloved and I have our own company, so I don't really work '9 to 5'. Sometimes work gets crazy, and some periods are real slow with lots of time to spend on creating. (Sounds ideal huh?! I'm a lucky girl!) BUT... (aha, there's a but...) since 6 months, I write articles for the Dutch scrapbook magazine 'Creatief met Foto's'. And by that, I mean I write (almost) ALL the articles!! The magazine comes out every other month. For me, that means writing about 60 pages in 3 weeks every other month... and yep, that can be called 'Manic'.... I thought about this, while making my page.
I used a 'text' stamp to stamp the background. My son took this photo of me for a project some time ago. I edited the photo in Photoshop. I used twill tape (fabric) to stamp part of the lyrics on. I sewed the ribbon onto the page. I also (machine) stitched a border.

Great prompt! Without this prompt my page wouldn't be like this: http://sanartydesigns.blogspot.com/2011/05/in-middle-of-dream.html
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration!
This was so cool and I made a very dark page, but it just reflects how I feel lately!! =)

This was a funny journal entry. The text and picture just made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Tim Holz' video on distress ink. I use alcohol inks quite a bit but this is something I will have to experiment with. I like that it's in a stamp form instead of liquid. all these pages were great ladies.
ReplyDeleteOK! I finished!! Here is my link:
